How to cut weight – what works

Hi, Tom here.
Learning how to cut weight is a minefield but I think I’ve been helping some of you out there. I’ve noticed my site has been getting a lot of views in the last couple of days. Hopefully I’ve helped some people so they can crush their competition and come out on top. As a thank you, today I want to go a little further and reveal a complete system I show people when they want to know how to cut weight fast.

When I started this website on weight cutting I wanted to help people like my nephew, people that are maybe under a lot of pressure to make weight and do well. It doesn’t matter how old you are though, generally weight cutting really sucks. You feel like crap, your metabolism is shot, you put your body through the ringer. And then you have to wrestle! That isn’t a formula for placing well. Sometimes techniques like spitting in cups, working out in plastics, staying in the sauna for hours, have helped some guys get killed.

Great system for cutting weight

Anyway, the system I mentioned earlier is the easy weight cutting system by Steve Preston. Its a set of modules that you can either read or watch online once you get access. When I saw his system I found us agreeing on many points, but there was also a lot that I didn’t know compared to him. Makes sense, Steve has been training athletes for more than 20 years.

He knows what hes talking about, down to the science of cutting weight and sports performance. Steve does a good job of breaking it down though. Personally, sometimes I wished he went into the science of it a little more at times but thats me. The main thing is, this guy has put together a complete no nonsense system for cutting weight. Its EASY, its SAFE and its EFFECTIVE without sacrificing performance. Thats what you need with a good method for how to cut weight.

I’ve recommended it to people I know before but for some reason I tried to keep it hush hush. Now I’ve got a website trying to show as many people as I can about cutting weight, I guess it makes sense that I recommend it here.

Easy Weight Cutting is a system I’ve seen people use to make weight easily, while still being able to wrestle.

Useful nutrition tips for cutting weight

Since we’re talking about cutting weight as a whole we have to look at all sides of the equation. I’ve talked a little about water, but now I want to talk about food.

There are a lot of things I could tell you, but to be honest it is summed up best by Dr. John Berardi, a leading sports nutrition expert and one of the best in his field. He has 7 rules for eating well and I’ll tell you right now, following them will make cutting weight a whole lot easier. Click here to see what I’m talking about, remember to scroll about halfway down.

Berardi’s 7 rules are so good that I don’t have much to add, but I will say this – if you take them up you have to be strict. Especially when its nearing weigh in when its even easier to put on a mystery pound or two.

Cutting Weight -Water Intake

Tom here – I want to talk about something important.
When you’re cutting weight, you’ll often hear conflicting stories on how much water you should be drinking. Some will tell you to drink as little as possible, others will tell you that drinking water is fine as long as you control it. It can be difficult to know what to do when you’re under pressure to perform and make weight by a certain time – especially depending on the sport you compete in. When I was cutting weight for wrestling my coach would push me into practices that I wouldn’t agree with today. He just wanted me to do well, but while I made weight, I still think some of those practices might have hurt my performance.

Back to water. Here’s my take: you need water to live. You need more to perform. Controlling water intake is fine in moderation but if you’re trying to limit the water you drink to extreme levels you’re only hurting yourself. Long term water deprivation is not how to cut weight. After all – how are you going to lose any water weight if you don’t have any to begin with?

The best thing to do is drink plenty of water all year round, perhaps even more thank you feel thirsty for. Stick to water. Especially when cutting down on food intake, the water stops you from feeling so hungry. The only time to think about cutting water intake is a few days before a match. I would only start to seriously limit how much water I’d drink either the day of weigh in, or the day before. That way there is enough water weight to lose and I’d feel good enough to wrestle.

Sometimes you’ll find that you’re still a little over and thats when some people sweat out the extra weight by exercising in black trash bags to cut weight fast. I admit I did used to do this, but today the practice is illegal in wrestling and I can’t advise it. Be aware – this can be DANGEROUS and has killed people. Never, ever do it after long term water deprivation (which isn’t a good idea anyway). If you’ve been sensible with the water you drink, not limited yourself and need to sweat out a couple of pounds, then it be less dangerous – but I still can’t advise it.

The only time I ever had to sweat out extra water was when I screwed up my preparation. Remember: cutting weight is a process. Its mid to long term and much easier to do that way than all at once!

How to cut weight – welcome

Hi and welcome to my weight cutting website. My name is Tom Cully and I hope you find what you’re looking for here.
I have good experience with having to make weight for sports, especially how to cut weight for wrestling, and will be sharing my knowledge with you here.

I’ve seen people perform seriously under par or even get hurt by trying to drop pounds too quickly. There is a wrong way and a right way of doing things. I think that it is safe to cut weight just so long as you remember that it is a process – planning should start weeks before your match. Its just like everything else in sports – you get out what you put in, and to get the results you want you can’t just be a couple of days before. The effort needs to be made over time.

There are things to do to cut weight a couple of days before a match, but you’ll never get as good results as when you start preparing further in advance and work cutting weight into your routine.

Anyway, that’s my take on cutting weight in a nutshell. I’ll be putting up methods and tips that I like soon.
